Mixed-Use projects are often a combination of retail at grade level with offices or housing above. Buildings that incorporate mixed-occupancy are more involved both in zoning and building code requirements. However, their benefits are numerous. By placing the work place and shopping within walking distance of the residence, they reduce the impact on the transportation infrastructure. In using less land, they foster communities. Most importantly, they provide a greater urban density needed to sustain our natural environment. The seven projects included are examples of this.
