2 Rodeo Drive
Beverly Hills, CA
Designer Kaplan/McLaughlin/Diaz
Inviting storefronts along Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard draw pedestrians into a central open-air cobblestone paseo. Twenty-three distinctive retail shops, each uniquely clad in terracotta, limestone and brick, recreate the ambiance of a European shopping street. The 120,000 sf retail complex includes sub-grade parking for 600 cars.
As part of the design team on this project, I was responsible for the design and terracotta detailing on two of the storefronts, the subterranean porte cochere and entrance lobby, as well as the design of sculptural hand-built decorative terracotta pieces, such as the ram's head and the lion's head used on the project.
