The glass artist, Arthur Stern, developed the concept of the painted glass medallion for the Stations of the Cross within a patterned art glass window. Karen Fishburn faithfully painted onto the glass the drawings I drew for each of the stations. Through my drawings I try to convey a more intimate understanding of Jesus. My drawings include the historical research I did for dress, environment and means of crucifixion. The viewpoint changes with each window, sometimes from bystander, to Pilate, or Veronica so that the viewer may explore his/her feelings and faith when taking on the many facets of being human. The drawings for the Stations of the Cross, with meditations by Molly Roth, have since been published as a book, Shadows of the Cross, by Loyola University Press.
