Van Ness Plaza - San Francisco, CA
Project Designer for KMD
Van Ness Plaza, a five-story, 220,000 sf office/retail structure, is an extension of the Van Ness Avenue civic and cultural corridor to the south of Market Street. Its large floor plates, rarely found in the city, compete with the suburban office buildings of the surrounding Bay Area. Originally a three-story auto dealership and showroom, it has been converted with the addition of two more stories in steel and resheathed in an assemblage of precast and polished green granite. In addition, a centrally-located, barrel-vaulted, glazed atrium provides a focal point for four of the floors and affords natural light throughout the interior.
