Historic renovation of the 1916 Carnegie library and a new 140,000 sf addition create a state-of-the-art downtown main branch which also handles book processing and administrative functions for a 27-branch system. A 6,000 sf skylight galleria features a multi-use events space, adjoining a cafe and bookstore. The library is a focus of the one-block redevelopment project which is vital to Sacramento's downtown renewal.
